Lizard Creek - Madison, Yellowstone
From Lizard Creek, we drove back to Yellowstone but as we got to the park entrance and needed our National Park's pass to get in, we realized that my wallet was missing. Last time we saw it was on the roof of the car so it could have been anywhere between there and the campsite. We drove back slowly looking along the road. We walked the road from the campsite to the main road and found nothing. We went back to the park entrance and reported it missing to the rangers. Then as we were waiting inline to pay the $20 entrance fee, the ranger ran up to us and ask me what the wallet looked like. A group of bikers had found it lying all over the road, had picked it up and just brought it into the ranger station. Of course the money was missing, but everything else was there. I would have gladly given them the $40 odd bucks to save the hassle of replacing all the credits cards and my driver's license let alone all the park entrance fees that we would have had to pay again. And who knows maybe they didn't take the money, they did say all the papers were lying all over the road.
From there we went to the grocery store in Old Faithful to get groceries. Then we went to Madison campground on the eastern corner of the park. We setup camp and went for a drive to find a place to swim. We found a cool little river where there were tons of kids swimming and playing. The river ran through a little canyon that made it almost like a water ride, then suddenly chilled out into a calmly flowing river. We hung out there for a while and went back to camp to cook dinner.
OK, so this is where the journal ends. Its now October and I still haven't caught up, so I'm giving up. I'll give you the pictures though!
